The town of Kos and capital of the island is situated at the northeast part of the island, in a verdurous location.
It was founded around 366 B.C. in the place of the current one. The town flourished during the Hellenistic and the Roman period, when its market was one of the most important in ancient times.
Everyone visit the island s harbor in order to see the Castle of Neratzia, the Archaeological Museum, the Knights of Saint John Castle, as and the famous plane tree of Hippokrates, the father of Medicine, where science was actually born.
